Author Talk: Vol. 1- How Writing Saved My Life

Let's talk! Let's be inspired! We all have a story to tell. That's what makes being an author such a gift. We want to share ours, and hear about yours.

Join three of Houston's amazing writers and entrepreneurs: Maranda Evans of The Troubled Movement, Inc., Stephanie Davis of Heartwork Trending Counseling & Consulting, PLLC, & Micole Williams of Eclectically You Experience, LLC. to talk about how writing, not only opens up doors professionally, but frees you personally.

This forum is a place where authors, aspiring writers, and those that want to know more about the writing experience can have authentic dialogue.

Lite Bites and prizes will be included in your ticket purchase.

About The Authors:

Maranda Evans embraced her gift of writing and an act of extreme courage when she published her first book, Troubled, in November 2015 by releasing to the world the details of her troubled life as a teenager. In her award-winning memoir, she expressed the loss of her father to domestic murder in 2004, the details of her molestation and sexual assault, her failed attempts of suicide, and a 10-year battle with depression. On July 16, 2017, in memory of her late grandmother Mildred Stoot; Maranda released her second book titled Renewed Strength: Steps to Becoming a S.U.R.V.I.V.O.R by introducing an active step of healing for each letter in survivor.

Micole Williams is an eclectic force: a teacher by profession, writer by heart, and creative director by nature. She finds inspiration all around and storytells for a living. The native Houston, Texan started her writing and teaching career over ten years ago and is the author of the satirical romantic series, TANGLED WEB OF TRUE LOVE TALES and creator, director and producer of the indie short film series under the same title. TOXIC TIES TRILOGY is her second book series. She uses writing to bring social and relational issues to the forefront in a fun, yet thought-provoking way. Recently, featured at the NAACP Convention, NABJ.org, Texas Southern University, Congressional Black Caucus, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Literary Cafe and the Lit for Life Book Tour, Williams has more creative directed workshops, coaching series and an upcoming book that is a personal account with more tips and strategies scheduled for the near future.

Stephanie Davis, M.Ed, LPC, author of Unmasked: The Journey and Its Lessons, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, former School Counselor, and owner of Heartwork Trending Counseling and Consulting Services, PLLC. Stephanie believes that counseling and educating youth and young adults is a "work of heart".
