4th Annual Gems and Jewels Teen and Family Event

The Heartwork Trending vision to empower and encourage tweens, teens and families to tackle social and mental health concerns.

WHAT'S GEMS AND JEWELS?

  • This event is based on the "village" concept. It's the time of year where local professionals, partners, and families join together to drop gems of wisdom and love to our precious jewels (our kids).

  • It's a family reunion of sorts where we catch up, meet new people and discuss issues that teens and families face and ways to improve mental health!

  • This event provides teens and families a comfortable, non-judgmental atmosphere to share ideas, laugh and learn, and meet others.

  • Participants leave resources, friendships, connections, and network of supporters.

Guest Info:

The suggested donation is $15/per person. If guests are bringing multiple people or paying as a family (4 or more), they get a discount. We like to keep more of an intimate, classroom setting, so we plan for 25-35 people. Please contact me at heartworktrending@gmail.com for group discount.

These donations assist in providing counseling (and other events) for  families that cannot afford services, so know that you volunteering your time is never vain.

Sponsor Info:

If you know any businesses that would love to sponsor or donate, please contact me via heartworktrending@gmail.com.
Sponsorship not only supports teen mental health, but promote your services as well.

See you there!

#getmepaid19 is a carefully curated conference for influencers. The goal is to help you make money or more money by September 30, 2019. Before you leave the bootcamp you’ll have created a simple action plan, hired one of the speakers and know what strategy to implement.

According to Fortune Magazine only 1% of all influencers made over $10,000 for the year in 2017. Yep,that’s true. So why are the rest not making any money? It comes down to not having the right strategy, knowing how to effectively operate your business and hoping popularity will carry you to a million dollars. #getmepaid19 will help you address these obstacles so you can make over $10,000 in a year and join the 1%.

3rd Annual Spring Into The Future Fundraiser Gala

YOUTH Vendor & Sponsorship opportunities available! See below for details.

Our Annual Fundraising Gala is an event planned by a newly founded Houston-based 501(c)(3) non-profit to inform the community what our organization, The Troubled Movement, Inc. has planned for teens and young adults around the world and raise money for our programs and upcoming events.

Did you know?

  • 1 in 4 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18 and 34% are abused by a family member.

  • Suicide is the third leading cause of death for teenagers age 12-18. 20% of those are depressed.

  • By age 23, up to 41 percent of American adolescents and young adults have been arrested at least once for something other than a minor traffic violation.

The Troubled Movement is here to help the teens and young adults suffering from the troubled stage they feel like they can’t escape. As a survivor of sexual assault, depression, and a fatherless teenage life, I know firsthand how difficult it is to reach out to your family, friends, or the community. The fear of embarrassment and judgement overwhelms teenagers and causes them to suffer in silence. We are here to say, “Stop the violence. Release the silence.” This year we will have a special award ceremony for the winners of our 2018 Dennis Stoot Scholarship. Dinner will be served. Silent auctions and raffles will take place. There will be a videographer and photographer for memorable moments. Most of all there will be a chance for the community of Houston and surrounding areas to come together and do something positive for our youth. Vendor opportunities also available. We want our attendees to leave this gala filled with assurance that this movement will impact teens and young adults around the world.

National Black Girl Excellence Awards

The Black Girl Excellence Awards, is a national event that celebrates the important role that African American Women play in every industry of our society and the invaluable impact of positive representation.

According to the African American policy forum; Black girls have a higher incidence of emotional difficulties than any other group of girls. A recent study revealed that 67% of Black girls have indicated that they felt sad or hopeless for an extended period and according to the National Center for Education Statistics, Black girls’ suspension and expulsion rates were higher than any other group of girls. Now more than ever, our youth need strong role models.

We have a duty to ourselves and the generations that follow us to leave those that must walk our paths less broken than we were when we began the journey to womanhood. Our event The Black Girl Excellence Awards will honor some of the nation’s top professionals and will draw a diverse audience including parents, professionals, youth, teachers and other members of the community.

The Black Girl Excellence Awards, is a unique opportunity to generate goodwill with the community and to make positive impressions on the next generation of influencers and business owners. This event will highlight our Next Generation Vendors; who are business owners between the ages of 8-18 years of age at no cost to them! We are invested in leaving the road to womanhood and entrepreneurship less broken than it was when we found it.

Author Talk: Vol. 1- How Writing Saved My Life

Author Talk: Vol. 1- How Writing Saved My Life

Let's talk! Let's be inspired! We all have a story to tell. That's what makes being an author such a gift. We want to share ours, and hear about yours.

Join three of Houston's amazing writers and entrepreneurs: Maranda Evans of The Troubled Movement, Inc., Stephanie Davis of Heartwork Trending Counseling & Consulting, PLLC, & Micole Williams of Eclectically You Experience, LLC. to talk about how writing, not only opens up doors professionally, but frees you personally.

This forum is a place where authors, aspiring writers, and those that want to know more about the writing experience can have authentic dialogue.

Lite Bites and prizes will be included in your ticket purchase.

About The Authors:

Maranda Evans embraced her gift of writing and an act of extreme courage when she published her first book, Troubled, in November 2015 by releasing to the world the details of her troubled life as a teenager. In her award-winning memoir, she expressed the loss of her father to domestic murder in 2004, the details of her molestation and sexual assault, her failed attempts of suicide, and a 10-year battle with depression. On July 16, 2017, in memory of her late grandmother Mildred Stoot; Maranda released her second book titled Renewed Strength: Steps to Becoming a S.U.R.V.I.V.O.R by introducing an active step of healing for each letter in survivor.

Micole Williams is an eclectic force: a teacher by profession, writer by heart, and creative director by nature. She finds inspiration all around and storytells for a living. The native Houston, Texan started her writing and teaching career over ten years ago and is the author of the satirical romantic series, TANGLED WEB OF TRUE LOVE TALES and creator, director and producer of the indie short film series under the same title. TOXIC TIES TRILOGY is her second book series. She uses writing to bring social and relational issues to the forefront in a fun, yet thought-provoking way. Recently, featured at the NAACP Convention, NABJ.org, Texas Southern University, Congressional Black Caucus, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Literary Cafe and the Lit for Life Book Tour, Williams has more creative directed workshops, coaching series and an upcoming book that is a personal account with more tips and strategies scheduled for the near future.

Stephanie Davis, M.Ed, LPC, author of Unmasked: The Journey and Its Lessons, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, former School Counselor, and owner of Heartwork Trending Counseling and Consulting Services, PLLC. Stephanie believes that counseling and educating youth and young adults is a "work of heart". Her 2nd book of poetry, "Unmasked You, Too: Collections of Introspections", and interactive journal, "The Heartwork Journal" will be released in 2019.
